A Note from Executive Director Dean Fearing:

Dear Kulshan Community Land Trust supporters,

I hope this letter finds you in good health. It is with mixed emotions that I write to share some significant news about my role with Kulshan Community Land Trust. After sixteen fulfilling years with KulshanCLT, including fourteen as the executive director, I have decided that the time has come for me to step down from this position. My departure is scheduled for June of 2024.

It has been an incredible journey, and I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on the meaningful work we have accomplished together during my tenure. The mission of creating permanently affordable homes for the hardworking families of Whatcom County has been the driving force behind our collective efforts. Witnessing the transformation of lives through the realization of the dream of homeownership has been nothing short of inspiring.

Your unwavering support, dedication, and collaboration have made it possible for us to achieve remarkable milestones. Together, we have built not just homes but also vibrant communities where families thrive and grow. I take immense pride in the positive impact we've had on the lives of so many, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have played a role in this cause.

As I step down, I am excited about the future of KulshanCLT. The organization is in a strong position, thanks to the hard work and commitment of our talented team and the continued support from individuals like you. The board of directors has commenced their search for a new executive director, and I firmly believe that new leadership will bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and renewed energy to guide the organization into its next chapter.

I am optimistic about the continued success of KulshanCLT and the positive impact it will undoubtedly make in the years to come. We celebrate our 25th anniversary this year and as I reflect on my tenure, I’m excited for what’s ahead in the next 25 years for KulshanCLT. I am confident that the seeds we have planted together will grow into an even more vibrant and sustainable future for the communities we serve.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your steadfast support throughout the years. Your belief in our mission has been instrumental in our success. I look forward to cheering on the continued growth and success of KulshanCLT under new leadership.

As I embark on this new chapter in my life, I will carry with me the memories of the incredible work we've accomplished together. I am excited about the future and the opportunities it holds for both myself and the organization. Thank you for being an integral part of this extraordinary journey.
